Feb. 17, 2010, Meeting 1: Overview of weight loss prevention and mealtime assistance; assessing intake. Attendance by nurse aides strongly recommended.
Assignment: Read Overview and Step 1, “Assess risk for weight loss;” begin assessing food and fluid intake at mealtimes.

Mar. 17, 2010, Meeting 2: Mealtime intervention: Assessing resident responsiveness. Attendance by nurse aides strongly recommended.
Assignment: Read Step 2, “Individualizing mealtime assistance;” Begin conducting mealtime assistance trials with a sample of residents.

Apr. 21, 2010, Meeting 3: Snack intervention: Assessing resident responsiveness. Attendance by nurse aides strongly recommended.
Assignment: Read Step 3, “Implement staffing strategies.” Begin conducting snack trials with a sample of residents; continue enhanced eating assistance at mealtimes for responsive residents.

May 19, 2010, Meeting 4: Staffing; Peer experiences.
Assignments: Read Step 4, “Monitor quality of mealtime assistance.” Continue assessing residents and maintaining responsive residents on either the mealtime or the snack intervention.

June 16, 2010, Meeting 5: Monitoring Mealtime assistance. Attendance by quality improvement nurses strongly recommended.
Assignments: Read FAQs. Conduct direct observations of mealtimes and snack periods; share results with CNAs. Continue assessing residents and providing individualized mealtime assistance to nutritionally at-risk residents.
