HERE ARE SOME BMZ116B STUDENT RESPONSES TO THE FOLLOWING SURVEY
QUESTION:
The best advice I could give to someone on how to succeed in BMZ116
would be:
- Attend lectures, read and understand the textbook and its figures
- Go to class and don't freak out in the middle of the exams
- Keep up with the readings, come to class and take really good
notes! Also, work hard on labs to help your grade.
- Make sure you go to class and learn the material well in adavance
of the exam. It is too much information to pack into your
head in a span of one or two days. Closely following the book
and matching references with lecture notes is also helpful
- pay attention to notes, and basically know everything down to the
littlest details. Know how to apply things differently then
just the way the book represents them.
- Read all chapters (seriously!!) and do spend all your time
understanding it. MEET WITH THE PROFESSORS!
- Read each assignment prior to going to lecture and starty
studying before the week of an exam.
- Try to understand the material; read/skim the text before class.
- Use the CD rom that comes with the textbook. The quizzes on it
were very helpful.
- Don't wait until a few days before an exam to begin studying. It
is best to keep up on the reading and study your notes often.
- Get a tutor from day 1. You may not think you'll need one at
first, but trust me, you do.
- Go to every lecture class, take good notes and begin studying for
the exams early by reviewing the notes for a least 30 mintues a day.
- Go to the lectures and take down the information given there.
Study that information. For online quizes, take them once without using
notes or the book to see how much you know. Then go back and find the
answers that you missed
- I started preparing for exams 10 days before hand. Keep up with
the material. After lecture I would read the text and completely
understand the topic then commit it to memory.
- Is to keep on the information. I read the text before and after
class and record the lectures so that I can listen back over them. It
helps a lot with some of the Zoo notes because it is hard to write down
every little word
- It is very hard to figure out what each of the 3 teachers expect,
but pay special attention to what they say on day 1 of the class and
the first time they each lecture and try your best to figure them out-
you will learn a lot from the first test too.
- keep on top of it
- Keep on top of the readings and review/study materials throughout
the semester, not just right before exams. If you study well with
others, I've found that studying in pairs or groups of three and
talking through the material is very helpful.
- Keep up and do not get behind.
- keep up with the reading, and review everyday.
- keep up with the readings and attend all lectures
- Never stop studying and use the CD. If the teacher is unclear
make sure you have enough time to teach it to yourself. The notes were
extremely long if printed regularly and they were hard to format
correctly because there were strange spaces
- Print out lecture notes before class
- Read a lot, study a lot, cross your fingers.
- read before class and study way in advance for the test's because
there is a LOT of information.
- Read before coming to class. Come to every class. Start Studying
a week before the exam
- Read before lectures and after lectures, make key concept charts,
talk to profs often
- Read every day, and never skip class.
- Read the assignments before coming to class and review your notes
well in advance of the test.
- Read the book and come to class.
- read the book, however focus mainly on what is mentioned in
class. For the most part knowing the book inside and out will provide
more information than what is needed for the class. It even caused
confusion for me on the test.
- Read the chapters and go to class. Don't wait until the last
minute to learn everything... because you won't be able to.
- Read the chapters prior to lecture and reread them after lecture.
Notes should be clear and precise, because you need to be able to
quickly review them prior to the exams. Prepare early and often for the
class.
- Read the textbook before you go to class or the same day as the
class so the information stays with you. Also, review your notes often
over the semester and not just the week before the exam.
- read, read, read. lectures mean nothing without background
information.
- See professors during their office hours or other times outside
of class
- Study early and study often.
- Study everyday, come to class, and don't procrastinate!
- study like 3 hours each day and memorize practically everything.
- Study the sections right after class. Do not fall behind
- Study very hard and review your notes long before the exam. Also
review the slides and materials provided online.
- The book is very helpful. Use the notes as a guideline so you
know what to study in the book. Start studying a least a week in
advance for a test.
- To not fall behind on reading.
- to read the materials before coming to class.
- While it is great to want to understand the material, in order to
get the best grade it is somewhat necessary to memorize the text book.
- work your butt off all semester and you'll be lucky to get a B
- You have to study, and don't leave everything to the last moment,
study weeks ahead for a test.
