Miami Was a Standout
"I remember first stepping onto Miami's campus. I remember it being early fall and all of the leaves were changing colors to a lovely burnt orange. I had toured a lot of colleges, and Miami just stood out to me. Everyone made my family and I feel really welcome here in Oxford. I simply had to attend. I couldn't pass up studying on such a beautiful campus."
Everything I Wanted in a College
"Miami has been everything I could have wanted in a college experience. The professors are great, enthusiastic, and helpful when needed, the Residence Halls are well staffed and taken care of, the dining hall food was actually good, and the facilities on Miami's campus are kept clean and tidy.
"But further than that, Miami provided me with the opportunity to work side-by-side with my fellow students, professors, and staff to make my Miami experience the best it could have been. I was able to produce a lot of original poetic work under the guidance of the fantastic Creative Writing program, I was introduced to many of my core academic interests in my literature classes by some of the brightest academics across many fields of literary inquiry, and, I was welcomed into the Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program as a fellow feminist and someone looking to move Miami's campus forward."
Realizing a Dream
"My most meaningful experience at Miami University has certainly been my capstone project. With the help of Yu-Fang Cho of the English department and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program [WGS], I have been able to produce my own installation art. Without the help and continued support from the WGS program and Yu-Fang Cho, this project never would have happened, and certainly, my dream of creating installation art on Miami's campus would have stayed just that, a dream."
Exploring Critical Ideas
"My undergraduate research has been mainly in the fields of feminist movements and ideologies, queer theory, Latin American studies, Asian studies, and literary theory. In my literature and WGS classes, I have been able to work with my professors to read, write, and think about critical ideas through literature and literary theory."
Continuing Her Studies
"I am hoping to attend graduate school for gender studies."
"Make the best of your time at Miami. It goes by fast!"
