Training
Interactive OMA training sessions for staff members and volunteers are aimed at teaching ways to facilitate the creative process of people with dementia with special emphasis on maintaining their autonomy and dignity. It covers the following topics:
- The basics of dementia
- The foundation of OMA philosophy and methodology
- Skills for effective communication and facilitation of the creative process for people with dementia.

- Monday, Feb. 1: 10am - 12pm in Upham Hall 249, Miami University, Oxford, OH
- Monday, Feb. 1: 1:30pm - 3:30pm in Upham Hall 328, Miami University, Oxford, OH.
- Tuesday, Feb. 2: 1pm - 3pm in Butterfield Conference Room, Berkeley Square Retirement Community, Hamilton, OH.
- Wednesday, Feb. 3: 3pm - 5pm in Upham Hall 328, Miami University, Oxford, OH.
- Thursday, Feb. 4: 9:30am - 11:30am in the Board Room, Cedar Village Retirement Community, Mason, OH.
- Friday, Feb. 5: 10am - 12pm in Upham Hall 328, Miami University, Oxford, OH.
- Friday, Feb. 5: 3:15pm - 5:15pm in Upham Hall 328, Miami University, Oxford, OH.
Training is available for anyone interested in becoming an OMA volunteer. It is free of charge.
