Watch your thoughts: they become words.
Watch your
words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.

Classroom Rules
1. Be prepared for every class. Always bring paper, notebook, ECHO, textbook, and writing utensil to class. No passes will be given to retrieve these items.
2. Be in your seats when class at the beginning of class. We want to start as soon as possible so that we have plenty of time for each activity. The teacher will dismiss the entire class when proper cleanup and instruction is given.
3. Be courteous to your classmates. Personal respect and common courtesy are expected. Always use appropriate behavior and language. The word "sucks" is considered inappropriate.
4. Always obey the school rules. Obeying the rules is part of the adult world.
5. Make-up work must be completed within one school day when 2 or less days are missed. If you are absent more than 3 days, you will need to make arrangements with me. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for the missed assignments. This information is posted on the calendar and handouts will be in your class period folder. Cheating is NOT TOLERATED. Anyone caught cheating will receive an automatic zero and further action will be taken.

Lab Safety
Goggles: Goggles should be worn when chemicals are being heated or mixed. This will protect your eyes from chemicals that spatter or explode. If you happen to get some chemical in your eye, flush thoroughly with water for 15 minutes.
Smelling Chemicals: If you need to smell a chemical to identify it, hold it six inches away from your nose. This will "waft" some of the fumes toward your nose without exposing you to a large dose of anything really stinky or dangerous.
Chemical Contact with Skin: If you happen to spill a chemical on your skin, flush the area with water for 15 minutes.
Proper Disposal of Chemicals: If a substance needs that special disposal is used or formed during an experiment in lab you will be given special directions for disposal.
No Eating or Drinking of Chemicals: When you eat or drink in the lab, you run the risk of internalizing poison. This is NEVER done unless the lab calls for you to do so. Make sure your hands and lab area are always clean when you're finished experimenting.
Horseplay is OUT: Horseplay can lead to chemical spills, accidental fires, broken containers, damaged equipment, and injuries to people. Never throw anything to or at another person. Be careful where you put your hands and arms. No wrestling, punching, or shoving in the lab.
Better Safe Than Sorry: If you have any questions, or if you're not sure how to handle a particular chemical, procedure, or part of an experiment, ask for my help.
