Linguistics at Miami University
Read what current and former students have to say about Linguistics at Miami University.
Cassandra Cattell (2013)
Linguistics is my passion. That is one thing that really stands out to me—that I was able to start doing something I loved ... I have had a great time with the faculty in both linguistics and political science. I love the kind of experiences you are able to open yourself up to if you are willing to look for them.

Tricia McDonough (2012)
Instead of looking at English as a tool to transfer information and evoke feelings ... I'm realizing the role that language has in transferring ideas. It simultaneously functions systematically, with structured grammar and phonology, and encourages creativity, with infinite possibilities to put our understanding of the universe into words.

Rachael Baiduc (2008)
While at Miami, I majored in speech pathology and audiology with a minor in linguistics. Although I was interested in understanding language, I became enraptured by the ear and its exquisite ability to process complex stimuli.

Amanda Tingley (2014)
Before coming to Miami, I'd never heard of linguistics or what it could possibly be used for. After taking Intro to Linguistics, I found that my real interests were in neurolinguistics and psycholinguistics.

Krysta Falasca (2012)
Miami has set me up for success in the future ... From the experiences I've had, to the friends I've made, and the professors and advisors that have made an impact in my life, I truly believe that Miami could not have been a better fit.
