Linguistics at Miami University
Minor Requirements (18 semester hours)
Linguists look at how people use language and try to find the rules that govern that use. A minor in linguistics is useful for students majoring in foreign languages, English, sociology, anthropology, psychology, mathematics, communication, philosophy, or computer science.
A minimum 2.0 g.p.a. is required for all courses in the minor.
When initiating the minor, students must register with the Linguistics advisor, Prof. John M. Jeep (jeepjm@MiamiOH.edu), GREAL, 166 Irvin Hall, and meet with an advisor at least once a year until they complete the minor.
This minor does not satisfy the Thematic Sequence requirement of the Miami Plan for English Majors.
