In fall 2011, Laura talked about her time at Miami University.

"My name is Laura Kretz, and I am a junior from Toledo, Ohio. I come from a loving home with my parents and my two older brothers, both of whom attended Miami University. In fact, all three of us are lucky and grateful to have received the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship, which is a full-ride scholarship.

"As one could tell, I was raised to appreciate the importance of education and to make a difference in the world we live in. Miami University is the best college for me because it fosters academic growth. I love that Miami University allows me to expand, explore, and grow in my academics, which is why I am double majored in Political Science and Organizations Speech Communication, with a minor in Rhetoric and Writing.

"In addition, Miami University prepares its students for the real world, which is one reason why I am so involved on and off campus. One of the organizations I belong to is the Miami University College Democrats, which I am currently the Vice President. This organization is one that I hold close to my heart because I love the activities and events that we have, along with all of the members.

"I have also participated in Miami University's Inside Washington Program, in which I have had the ability to prove my excellence in the 'real world,' in my placement of an incredible and once-in-a-lifetime internship.

"I hope to positively impact Miami University through the DSAC because Miami University has given me so many opportunities for me to grow as a student and as an adult. I am very excited to be a representative of a larger student body constituency and to give back to this campus. I hope to help Miami University grow to fit the needs of my generation, which includes preparing students for getting a job after college."
