In fall 2011, Stephen talked about his time at Miami University.
Background
"I attended St. Ignatius High School in downtown Cleveland, where I was involved in many service groups dedicated to the residents of Cleveland. Because of these experiences, I now have a much different view of society and my goal is to work in Washington, D.C. or Columbus to help better society."
Academic & Co-curricular Experiences
"While at Miami, I've been an active member of the Governmental Relations Network, allowing me to travel to Columbus and Washington D.C., and to have hands-on experience with my major. I also have been an active member in the Miami University United Way Student Foundation, which raises funds for the local United Way while bringing the Oxford community together. I also serve on the Associated Student Government Funding Committee."
Impact I Hope to Make on Miami
"I hope to motivate others to pursue their goals with enthusiasm and to be a person who they can count on, when and if needed."
Thoughts on Representing My Peers
"While serving on DSAC, I hope to enhance each student's ability to be successful inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to reaching out to classmates and friends and hearing their concerns, then being able to share their concerns in a fashion that could potentially lead to a positive change for the university."
Leadership Roles
"Earlier this year, I was chosen to be the chairman of the Miami University United Way Student Foundation. This position involves running weekly meetings and working with leaders of other student groups on campus. Through this position, I've learned that there is no such thing as being over prepared and that it is essential to incorporate the entire group in a project if you want it to be a success."
My Plans for the Future
"After graduation, or potentially law school, I plan to work on Capitol Hill as a staffer in hopes of working my way up the ladder to being chief of staff for a congressman. Eventually, I hope to work in D.C for an interest group, promoting a cause that I feel very passionately about."
