Honors Staff: Kari Taylor

I am Kari Taylor, the Associate Director of Student Development. I majored in magazine journalism and biology at the University of Missouri-Columbia (aka Mizzou). I initially hoped to pursue a career in health and science news reporting, but through my work as a peer advisor in college, I realized that my true passion is to help students maximize their learning. I moved to Oxford, OH in 2004 to attend graduate school at Miami University, where I earned a master’s degree from the College Student Personnel Program. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling to visit friends and family and hanging out in coffee shops and bookstores.

MY BEST ADVICE:
The most important piece of advice I can give to first-year students is to stay curious and take initiative. Boundless opportunities for learning exist, but the most valuable ones require students to be willing to explore what is possible and be willing to take the first step.

BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE:
By the time you graduate from Miami and the Honors Program, I hope you have developed a strong sense of who you are and what you believe while also maintaining a desire to keep learning and growing
