Honors Program

What I do in Honors:

I work with three specific student populations: those who transfer to Miami from another institution, those who relocate to Oxford from one of Miami’s regional campuses, and those who apply to the Honors Program as current Miami students. Each of these groups has a unique set of needs, and I am here to help address those needs. I not only help students with the admission process, but also serve as their academic advisor in the Honors Program.

Honors Staff: Mandy Hart

My name is Mandy Hart and I am one of the Assistant Directors in the University Honors Program. I came to Oxford from Tampa, FL by way of Lewisburg, PA, where I attended Bucknell University. While at Bucknell, I majored in psychology, and double minored in linguistics and creative writing poetry. Despite my multiple areas of academic interest, I found more personal fulfillment in my work outside of the classroom in event programming, athletic training, alumni affairs, and fundraising. I came to Miami University immediately after college graduation to pursue my masters degree in College Student Personnel, where I discovered a passion for working with student populations that are often marginalized. I also began to advocate for educational access and the value of diverse perspectives in education, which led me to my position here in the Honors Program.

MY BEST ADVICE:
Don’t let fear of completing the Honors Program in time for graduation interfere with your desire to create your own educational plan. I’m here to make sure the Honors Program fits in with your educational goals, so make an appointment with me and let’s see if the Honors Program is right for you!

BY THE TIME YOU GRADUATE:
The Honors Program is designed to help you figure out who you are and how you can enhance your environment. By the time you graduate, you will have the tools necessary to carve your niche in the world. When you walk across the stage at graduation, you should feel like you are just getting started!
