Petitioning Honors Experiences
Each semester, we offer approximately 80 honors courses and other intensive learning experiences. Approximately two-thirds of these experiences are honors-exclusive seminars. The other offerings are contract experiences.
Although there is a wide variety of honors courses offered each semester, occasionally, students participate in other rigorous learning experiences that are not on the honors schedule. When that occurs, students may submit petitions for learning experiences that they believe are worthy of receiving honors credit. Students may petition credit and non-credit bearing learning experiences that are intensive and advance program learning outcomes. In the past, students have petitioned study abroad experiences, laboratory research, internships, and community service engagement for honors credit.
Petition forms are available in the honors student’s Chalk & Wire honors e-portfolio. Students are encouraged to review the petition guidelines before they participate in the experience and then submit a petition after the learning experience has concluded.
