INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
Application Procedures
Applicants must have all forms (including those required by the Graduate School) submitted no later than January 1st of the year of entry. Applications will be accepted after January 1st; however, late applications may not receive full consideration. All applications are considered for fall admission.
Students are strongly advised to personally contact potential faculty advisors before January 1st. Applicants without a faculty sponsor will not be considered for admission to the Botany Program.
All Applicants (Domestic & International):
Step 1: Submit a completed online preliminary application. This application informs us of your interest in the program, allows us to identify potential faculty who share similar interests as you, and allows us to gauge your potential for success in our program based on your self-reported academic performance. The preliminary application is also required to be considered for a teaching assistantship.
Step 2: Formally apply to the Graduate School according to the instructions for domestic or international applicants below:
a. Apply online to the Miami University Graduate School;
b. Pay an application fee of $50 as part of the online application;
c. Provide the names and contact information of three people to write letters of
recommendation;
d. Provide official copies of your transcripts;
e. Provide to the Graduate School official copies of recent TOEFL or IELTS scores if
your native language is not English (International Students only);
f. Provide official copies of your general GRE scores (you may apply before completing
the GRE exam, but you will not be considered for admissibility to the program until
an official copy of your score report is received);
g. Provide a copy of your resume/CV;
h. Submit a statement about the area of botany in which you intend to specialize and
your career objectives.
