What Can I Do With a Major in Business Technology?
(Associate Degree)
Business Technology is a field of study that involves the application of business skills and knowledge to the operation and management of organizations. The objective of the business technology program is to provide local employers (businesses, not-for-profit organizations, industry, governmental agencies and others) with educated individuals who are technically trained to enter the workforce immediately upon graduation.
The program leads to an Associate of Applied Business degree with a major in one or more of the following:
- Accounting Technology
- Computer-Based Management Technology
(emphasizes the use of computers and software in the operation and management of organizations) - Business Management Technology
- Marketing Management Technology
- Office Management Technology
- Real Estate Technology.
Students receive a solid foundation of knowledge in the basic functional areas of business (accounting, economics, finance, business law, management, marketing); in communication and analytic skills (English, technical writing, interpersonal communication and math); in computers (hardware and software typically encountered on the job); and in specific technical skills of their chosen major (accounting, business information management, management, marketing, office management or real estate).
