College of Arts & Science at Miami University
About the College
Mission Statement: The mission of the College of Arts and Science is to develop in our students the knowledge and skills for success in a dynamic, global society and to foster excellence in creativity and research. (adopted April 2012)
The College of Arts and Science (CAS) is at the center of Miami's liberal arts curriculum. Over 75% of the liberal arts courses completed by all Miami students are taught in the college.
College graduation requirements parallel Miami's degree requirements. CAS students also take language courses to earn an undergraduate degree (BA, BA in International Studies, or BS).
Many students come to Miami without choosing a major. The college is the initial "home" for these students. CAS advisors help new students choose courses that meet degree requirements and introduce potential majors.
Outstanding Faculty and Exceptional Students
Miami faculty are well-respected teachers, scholars, mentors, and role models.

Faculty and student interaction in the classroom can lead to collaborative research. CAS undergraduates frequently participate in research projects around the world, attend major conferences, and publish in scholarly journals.

Approximately 55% of Honors Program students have CAS majors. In the past few years, CAS students have won competitive scholarships such as the Astronaut, Gates Cambridge, Goldwater, Marshall, and Rhodes.

Our programs provide students with experience — in and out of the classroom — that will prepare them for "next-generation" careers in such fields as:
- digital game studies
- disability studies
